PILLOW COVERS CARE

HOW TO CLEAN PILLOW COVERS

Both functional and aesthetically-pleasing, throw pillows can tie together different

-colored accents in rugs, home decor pieces, and living room sofas, lending a soft edge to the interior design of your living spaces. However, since they are frequently used for neck and head support, keeping your throw pillows clean and fresh can be a chore

– but it doesn’t have to be. Follow these tips to help you maintain the vibrant colors of your pillows, almost effortlessly!

Regularly dusting or vacuuming your throw pillows as you vacuum your upholstery will keep them from needing cleaning for a longer period of time. Depending on which fabric, many of our pillow covers can be spot cleaned as we recommend our fabrics be dry cleaned. Both methods help the longevity of our pillow covers. If spot cleaning ,please choose a small spot first and see how your cleaning solution absorbs within the fabric. Finally, keep hard to clean throw pillows above ground and in harder-to-reach places, where dogs, cats, kids, and people’s feet won’t soil them frequently. If spot cleaning please choose a small spot first and see how your cleaning solution absorbs within the fabric.

*When inserting your pillow inserts into pillow covers, we advise to fold inserts (like a taco) to reduce tension on zipper and thread while packing your pillow.

DOWN FEATHER PILLOW INSERT CARE

Washing Your Down Feather Inserts

  • Quantity – Always wash two pillows at a time to keep your washer balanced on the spin cycle
  • Water Temperature –  cold water, do not use fabric softener, not recommended because it can coat the down and feathers and reduce its fluff.
  • Temperature – Hot, warm or low; your choice - be aware that some shrinkage of the fabric can occur with warmer temperatures
  • Dry time – Be patient, it can take multiple cycles depending on your machines and it’s important to get your pillow completely dry
  • Clumping or Odor – These are signs that your pillow is not dry yet. You want it to be completely dry to prevent mold.
  • Dry Test – Hand fluff your pillows in between each cycle. The pillows may still be damp inside even though they feel dry to the touch. It’s always better to on the side of more drying time than less.

Optional:

  • Clean Tennis Balls or Dryer Balls – Add one to three balls to speed up your dry time. It will sound like they are beating up your dryer but they don’t actually hurt it.
  • Dryer Sheets – Add a dryer sheet to freshen your pillow.

CANDLE CARE

All of our candles at MAIROYAL Home Designs are 100% hand poured soy wax. Soy wax is very different from candles sold in stores because we do not use paraffin wax. Paraffin wax can cause fires due to the excessive heat, increase individual’s allergies and they also release toxic fumes in the air and home such as benzene, hexadecane, penta-decane and naphthalene just to name a few.

When lighting our soy candle for the first time, please note that burn time should be between 1-3 hours depending on the size of the candle. Doing so ensures that the top layer of wax melts to the edges of the candle jar and reduces wax tunneling. Tunneling decreases the life expectancy of your candle due to the wax only burning down the center of the candle and around the wick.

Each time a soy candle is re-lit, the wick must be trimmed to get rid of soot and prevent mushrooming. Mushrooming happens when the wick doesn't burn fast enough and starts to absorb the wax. This helps increase the life of your candle.

At MAIROYAL Home Designs our focus is consistency and we want to make sure each customer has the best experience when purchasing our products. It is important to keep in mind that since each candle is 100% natural soy wax, each candle is made slightly different. Some may be darker or lighter in color, clumpy after burning, or wet on top. This is all relative to the burn of a 100% hand poured natural soy wax candle.

Please never leave a candle unattended at any time while lit.
